FAQs

Q:
What is AGOGO?

A:
AGOGO is an all-in-one audio service that curates and delivers your favorite programming while helping you discover new favorites. We think of AGOGO as a super-easy way to listen to stuff you care about. Always on, always personalized, and always ready for the person on-the-go.

The real question: What isn’t AGOGO? And the answer: It isn’t like any other audio service you’ve ever used.

Q:
So, AGOGO is an app?

A:
Well, yes and no. We have an app, but that doesn’t define us. We are more like a full-service audio service – a platform that seamlessly delivers all forms of audio to you.

Q:
What kind of content can I find in AGOGO?

A:
AGOGO contains everything that is audio and everything that should be audio.

There’s music (hey, Spotify and Rdio!), podcasts (hello, NPR and all your friends), route-specific traffic reports (personalized for your commute), audiobooks (Fifty Shades of Grey Shakespeare!), and so very much more – including text-to-speech of your favorite print content (Page Six! Horoscopes!) and video programming delivered as audio (The Daily Show, Morning Joe).

We think of the audio experience as encompassing a much larger array of content options than anything else out here.

Q:
Is it similar to satellite radio?

A:
AGOGO's content is more comprehensive, it provides more control, and it's free. So we think it's much better than satellite radio!

Q:
How do I create an account on AGOGO?

A:
Simply, that’s how. Just download and launch the AGOGO app, and follow the step-by-step instructions.

You can use AGOGO as a guest, but creating an account (with your email address or via Facebook) provides the full AGOGO experience: portability, personalization, playlists, programming galore, and other perks that start with the letter P.

Q:
How do I program my GO Channel?

A:
Your GO Channel turns AGOGO into a fully personalized audio service. There are two basic ways to add programming to your GO Channel.
  1. On the main screen, we have set up some Curated Channels with programs grouped by topic. To see all the shows in a Curated Channel, tap one of the Guide icons on the far right of the screen. Then, click Edit in the upper-right, and add your choices to your GO Channel. Tap "Add to Go" at the bottom when you are done.
  2. From the play screen, tap the More icon (the three dots at the top) and then "Add Show to GO Channel."
New episodes of your favorite show will automatically appear in your GO Channel as soon as they become available. It’s that simple to channel your world with AGOGO!

Q:
How do I remove a show from my GO Channel?

A:
All of the sources in your GO Channel can be found by clicking the little Guide icon to the right of the GO Channel. You can remove any shows you don't want there by clicking the "Edit" button.

Or anytime a show is playing, you can also delete a show by clicking the More icon (the three dots) at the top.

Oh, and one more thing: You can also remove shows from your GO Channel through a web browser from the Web Dashboard.

Q:
How often is the content updated?

A:
Only...constantly! You can and should find something, er, many things new each time you login to AGOGO. We promise to keep AGOGO fresh.

Q:
Do you support music services?

A:
We most certainly do!

Having a Spotify and/or Rdio account, while not required, will enhance your AGOGO listening experience. (And AGOGO will also play content from your iTunes library.)

Here’s the real value of linking your AGOGO account with a music service: Say you’re listening to an NPR show about Justin Bieber (go with it!), and you catch a fever for which the only remedy is more Bieber – well, you can instantly listen to some “Baby”, “Boyfriend”, or whatever strikes your fancy – right from where you were. It’s about connecting the dots.

To add a music service, click the Settings icon in the upper-left of the app.

Q:
What is the difference between the GO Channel and Listen Later?

A:
The difference isn’t just in the wording. Think of the GO Channel as your AGOGO-to, whereas Listen Later can be your mind grapes.

Your GO Channel is a constantly updating stream of the shows to which you have subscribed. It’s how you make your AGOGO, well, yours; it’s the primary personalization component of AGOGO.

Your Favorites, meanwhile, are individual segments to save and for later – pick ‘em up whenever, wherever.

Q:
What is a channel?

A:
Easy one! A channel is a curated collection of trusted sources around a certain topic.

Q:
How do you pick the sources inside AGOGO?

A:
We only use trusted sources from around the Web that YOU, the listeners, have deemed worthy of selection. If there's something you think we're missing, let us know!

Q:
What does the "Compass" icon do?

A:
The compass connects the dots on AGOGO.

Tapping on the compass reveals topics and keywords related to the show and episode you are listening to. Select a topic and watch how AGOGO immediately creates an audio channel for you based on that term.

Discover. Add. Listen. Enjoy. Repeat.

Q:
What is the Web Dashboard, and how do I use it?

A:
If you log into AGOGO.com (through a good old-fashioned web browser!), you will be taken to the Web Dashboard, where you can see your Listening History and Favorites. You can also manage your GO Channel from here.

Q:
Have I read about you guys before?

A:
We’ve been called the “Swiss Army knife of listening apps” by multiple publications, and... yeah, we’ll take it!

Also, Forbes, TechCrunch, Appolicious, and more have written about us. None of that is as important to us, though, as the positive feedback we’ve received in the App Store. Awww.

Q:
Do you have an Android version?

A:
We truly <3 our Android friends, and we’re hard at work on a version for you. Check back and sign up for updates, and in the meantime, you can use the Dashboard to get your fix.

Q:
Do you have an iPad version?

A:
Not yet! Coming soon. We promise it’ll be worth the wait...

Q:
Do you need a Wifi connection to use AGOGO? Is there an offline version?

A:
At this time, AGOGO, like any other streaming apps, requires an Internet connection of some sort – either wifi or cellular.

Q:
Who are you guys?

A:
We think we’re an audio service that listeners will enjoy immensely. OK, we know it!

We are comprised of programmers, designers, and audio wizards who came together to create something that we wanted – and thought the world would enjoy, too.

AGOGO is headquartered in San Francisco and New York.

Q:
Are you hiring?

Q:
What does the future have in store?

A:
We have so many ideas! Stay tuned... in.
